Job Description
We are currently seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team at the Amityville location. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive primary, preventative, and behavioral health services to all patients, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay. This position is particularly focused on serving underserved and vulnerable communities.
Responsibilities
Check in patients and notify providers of their presence.
Monitor and update patient charts; enter date of visit, department, and provider name on daily log sheet.
Add sheets to medical records, place and document radiographs in/on X-ray folder, and manage treatment plans, periodontal charts, informed consent forms, referral forms, and contracts for complex treatment within the dental subdivision of the comprehensive medical record.
Record patient appointment data daily, including no shows, cancellations, emergencies, and payment sources, to accurately collect monthly dental statistics.
Follow OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by the department, JCAHO, and overseen by the Infection Control Officer.
Maintain supplies and instruments in the dental operatory.
Maintain the dental laboratory, process instruments, and monitor lab cases, including check-in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, and completing lab log sheets.
Follow weekly and monthly maintenance procedures for all sterilization equipment.

High School Diploma
Dental Assistant Diploma (is a plus)
1 or more years of on-site dental assistant experience
Certification preferred, not required
EMR experience is an asset
Work Environment
The work environment is a high-volume, fast-paced community health center. The schedule is from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. You may need to train at either the Staten Island, NY or Bronx, NY locations initially. This position requires comfort working in a high-volume patient environment.
