       Earth Science TeacherHigh SchoolStart Date 8/28/25Dual Certificates in Earth Science and Living Environment preferredPosition OverviewWe are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Science Teacher/Earth Science to inspire and engage students. The successful candidate will deliver dynamic and comprehensive science instruction, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and a love of scientific inquiry. The teacher will be responsible for creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment while meeting curriculum standards and supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.

ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum Development

  • Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with state and national standards.

  • Teach subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, or Integrated Science, depending on qualifications and school needs.

  • Incorporate hands-on experiments, lab activities, and real-world applications into lessons.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.

  • Use technology and digital resources to enhance student learning.

Assessment and Evaluation

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

Classroom Management

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect and active participation.

  • Establish clear expectations for behavior and academic performance.

  • Address student behavior and conflicts professionally and proactively.

Collaboration and Professional Development

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and enhance the science curriculum.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices in science education.

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.

Additional Duties.

  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

QualificationsEducation and Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science education, and Earth Science

  • Valid teaching certification/license education in New York in Earth Science (grades 7-12).

Experience:

  • Previous teaching experience at the secondary level preferred.

  • Experience in integrating technology and hands-on learning into the curriculum.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of subject matter and pedagogy.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning styles.

  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment.
