Job Description

In this role you will work on project implementation as part of the Design to Cost (DtC) program within Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD). Lead initiatives that will increase the value of our products in the most cost-effective way.

The DtC Lead Engineer collaborates closely with various parts of the organization to find opportunities and implement design changes that deliver cost improvement. The position is based in Brno.

What will you do?

  • Work with other departments (Engineering, R&D, Procurement, Service, Sourcing, Finance), 3rd party design partners and suppliers on cost improvement projects.

  • Drive cross-site projects using processes, tools, and other related resources to ensure effective team dynamics and decision-making, as well as effective interactions with all internal and external collaborators.

  • Redesign and implement changes in parts and assemblies that will result in improvements on material, quality, service, and manufacturing costs.

  • Proactively identifies issues, concerns, or challenges in projects. Facilitate tradeoff decisions and remove obstacles, including blocking issue reporting to key sponsors when required.

  • Organize multi-functional, cross-site Value Engineering Workshops for conceptualization and scoping of cost improvement activities.

What we expect from you:

  • University degree in a mechanical or mechatronics engineering or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills.

  • Relevant working experience and strong expertise in mechanical/mechatronics hardware design preferably in high-tech industry environment.

  • Product Development Practices, Processes and Tools

  • Value Engineering and/or Design for Six Sigma.

  • Demonstrates leadership and ability to scope and manage complicated projects from inception to completion. Persistence to overcome project obstacles.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of design principles, new product development and change management processes.

  • Demonstrates awareness of manufacturing, service, factory, and supply chain processes

  • Business and Financial Acuity: Understands product cost structure, Cost of Ownership and is experienced in crafting business cases.

  • Strong negotiation skills and proven track record of driving decisions and discussions. Able to work across language and cultural barriers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: Demonstrates ability to create and deliver presentations appropriately scaled to the audience. Confident at interacting with senior management.

  • Fluent in English.
