How you make a difference
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner(Psych NP)providespsychiatric consultation, diagnostic, and treatment services to patients, including medication management and crisis intervention services, while adhering toestablishedpolicy and procedure and state guidelines. Theymaintaindocumentation required by state or facility guidelines todemonstratecompliance with supervision requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts comprehensive patient assessments, develops plans of care, and evaluates effectiveness of interventions, including medication management and crisis intervention services.
Maintains thorough documentation in compliance with organization policies and procedures, state guidelines, and best practices, including medication education, seclusion/restraint use, infection control, and risk management.
Provides individualized care sensitive to the age and developmental needs of eachpatient, andparticipates in on-call schedules and mandatory committees as required.
Adheres toestablishedformularies for therapeutic regimens andutilizesestablished procedures for admission, transfer, and specialty consultant referrals.
Assumes responsibility and accountability for individual judgments and actions, while supporting standards of psychiatric care andprovidinginput into committees and meetings asrequested.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
Experience
- Two (2) years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner. Psychiatric experience preferred and/or experience in a residential healthcare institution.
Licenses/Certifications
Certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of practice highly desired.
MustmaintainCPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
