Robert Half Payroll & HR Specialist in Brattleboro, Vermont
Description
ROLE PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing all payroll-related processing activities.
Payroll
Manages the full payroll life cycle to submit accurate and timely payrolls via third party payroll vendor
Collects, verifies, stores and reports on organizational payroll data as well as monitors the accuracy of the data and files
Ensures mandatory & voluntary withholdings and deductions are accurately calculated and reported
Inputs changes, which may include changes to employees or employee statuses, exemptions or withholdings, or bank information; completes all new hire setups in the system
Leads the process for preparing year end W-2s and other related tax filings or reports
Acts as the subject matter expert & main point of contact for employees/managers with questions about payroll policies and pay discrepancies
Owns, executes, and maintains reporting processes for the department
Human Resources
Assists in employee engagement and onboarding
Assists in development and implementation of HR policies
Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements
Requirements
Knowledge of Employment Law: Solid understanding of federal and state employment laws and compliance regulations to ensure HR policies are aligned.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication and people skills, with a collaborative team-player mindset.
Analytical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills, including the ability to create detailed spreadsheets, charts, and presentations.
Attention to Detail and Organization: Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, organizational skills, and a customer service-oriented approach.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2-4 years of HR or payroll experience is required.
HRMS/HRIS Systems: Experience with HRMS or HRIS systems is preferred, with UKG (formerly Kronos) experience being a big plus.
Payroll Expertise: Familiarity with year-end processes, W-2 preparation, and tax reporting or filing is highly desirable.
