Job Description

IFF Health & Biosciences is a leader in the industrial biotechnology sector which develops innovative enzymes and bioproducts to improve the performance and reduce the environ-mental impact of the food & beverage industry.

We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong passion and eager to learn about enzymes for the baking industry to fulfill a position as Application Specialist. Within this position you will be part of our global bakery enzyme application team - a group, which is part of the global food enzyme application organisation in IFF Health & Biosciences.

You will work in close collaboration with our R&D Food enzyme and application colleagues to explore the functionality of different enzymes used within bakery application. You will mainly serve our inter-nal stakeholders with technical support and documentation on bakery enzyme products, however should also expect to be involved in selected customer opportunities. Together with colleagues from our global organisation, you will be responsible for the development of solid technical knowledge of the entire bakery enzyme product portfolio to gain customer confidence.

Role scope & primary responsibilities:

  • You will provide application support related to our functional ingredients and solutions with spe-cific focus on bakery enzymes. Focusing on the functionality of enzyme solutions used at millers, improver houses and industrial bakeries.

  • Your primary responsibilities will be to provide technical support and application knowledge in our internal R&D- and supply chain projects. Here you will be the key driver and sub-project leader of bakery application work within the projects.

  • You will design, plan, execute and interpret experiments of bakery enzymes to evaluate and op-timize product performance, test new enzyme molecules and enzyme candidates. You will have a competent internal organisation to support you in your role.

  • It is expected that you are creative and explore the use of different analytical tools as well as pilot plant facilities to demonstrate the functionality of the enzymes. This includes both dough rheology tools as well as final bakery applications.

  • You will have a close corporation with our customer facing application specialists, product man-ager and regional business lead, providing technical documentation and support development of new commercial products, meeting market and customer needs. This includes to some extend different customer facing activities like customer visits/virtual calls as well as technical back up to our sales force.

  • You will participate in concept development and assist in the development and documentation of enzyme products throughout the commercialization process; formulation of enzyme/functional products, technical documentation, marketing material, presentations, post-launch support, tech-nical reports, invention disclosures and patents.

Key requirements (but are not limited to):

  • You hold a master’s degree within food science, and preferably have a background within bakery science and technology.

  • You have experience within product development or related function from a food ingredients supplier or the baking industry.

  • Specific experience or competencies within the use of bakery enzymes are considered a strong advantage.

  • You have a strong technical understanding.

  • Have the ability to interact and articulate product functionality and value propositions at multiple levels internally and externally.

  • You are an ambitious self-starter and results-oriented, take initiatives and can prioritize and man-age multiple tasks with a structured approach.

  • You like to work independently as well as in teams and understand how to function in a large organisation and the importance of reaching common business objectives. We work in teams, so competencies such as teamwork and knowledge sharing are very important.

  • You are open-minded, passionate about your work, have good commercial understanding and thrive in a highly dynamic and complex matrix organisation with cultural differences.

  • We expect you have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with good reporting and record keeping skills.

  • Willingness to travel in case travel activity is needed to other internal application sites, at selected customers, for conferences, etc.
