Job Description

Teledyne Photon Machines is a worldwide leader in Laser Ablation systems used for solid sampling elemental analysis and imaging. We develop, manufacture, service and market a suite of Laser Ablation products around the globe.

We are taking applications for a Field Service Engineer to join our team based in Bozeman, MT.

Job Summary:

Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting to our customers globally (20%)

Perform administrative duties (20%):

Generate quotations

Order entry

Parts shipment requests

Returns

Inventory management

Provide on-site field service (60%):

New system installations and basic operator training

System repair and preventative maintenance

Advanced operator training

Scheduling customer visits

Provide feedback on engineering and manufacturing of products

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned as required

Answer application and service-related queries from customers around the globe.

Travel load is expected to be in the region of 60-70% annually. Travel is almost exclusively within the US but occasional travel to both Europe and Asia may be required

Must be able to work independently and make own travel arrangements within predefined budgetary boundaries

Must be able to lift 35-55lbs if needed

Creates and edits user manuals, checklists, troubleshooting guides, etc.

Enter orders received from customers and OEM distributors and provide tracking information

Initiate and/or process return authorization for incorrect or defective material ordered, shipped or received.

Furnish customers with written quotations on parts/service

Provide exceptional customer service

Promote, sell and support service products

Ability to effectively interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, videos, and documents for new system startup, certifications, and systems maintenance.

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Schedule and complete installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance at customer sites (all onsite visits require overnight stays) on laser equipment including solid state, excimer, diode and CO2 systems

Experience with multiple ICP-MS vendor's HW and SW such as Qtegra, MassHunter and Syngistix is a plus but not required

Ability to travel with short notice

Uses and maintains manufacturing and test equipment

Participate actively in the quality process including problem solving, corrective and preventative actions and recommending solutions to enhance and improve the quality of the customer experience and departmental and/or company-wide business activities

Perform other duties as deemed necessary by management

Education and/or Experience:

Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related laboratory experience and technical knowledge with Laser Ablation and ICP-MS systems and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Relevant on the job experience as a Service Engineer in any scientific industry is a plus, but not essential. Experience operating an ICP-MS is desired but not essential. Experience with LA-ICP-MS is a plus.
