Scotty's Contracting and Stone is accepting applications for a Tanker Driver. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections, monitor dashboard gauges, and maintain truck cleanliness, reporting any major issues to the Supervisor.
  • Take directions from supervisors regarding assignments, routes, and operational procedures.
  • Stay alert to road conditions, job site hazards, and changes in assignments via CB radio communication.
  • Report any accidents, damage, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Work professionally with co-workers, dispatchers, and site personnel to ensure efficient operations and a collaborative work environment.
  • Safely operate and drive a tanker truck to transport liquids, chemicals, or petroleum products to various destinations.
  • Follow all traffic laws and company policies, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Accurately complete and submit daily logs, truck reports, and other required documentation in compliance with company, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Be prepared to operate in various weather conditions while ensuring safe transport of materials.
  • Assist in the preparation and completion of necessary documentation for each delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 year of experience performing similar key responsibilities in commercial driving preferred.
  • Certification/License:
  • Must possess a valid Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement and Hazmat.
  • Must have a current medical certificate.
  • Must pass a Clearinghouse check and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Additional Skills: Strong attention to safety and adherence to protocols.
  • Experience transporting hazardous materials is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and follow maps, delivery instructions, and schedules.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certification from a Department of Transportation (DOT) medical examiner (in the U.S.) to ensure fitness for operating heavy vehicles.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Sitting for Long Periods: Extended periods of driving (8+ hours) while maintaining alertness.
  • Climbing in and out of the truck multiple times a day, using ladders and steps.
  • Climbing steps and ladders to load and unload materials and access high platforms.
  • Operating truck controls, levers, and sometimes tarping systems.
  • Walking around job sites, inspecting the vehicle, and securing loads.
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, checking undercarriage and tires.
  • Adequate vision for reading gauges, spotting hazards, and navigating traffic; hearing to communicate with site personnel and hear alarms/horns.
  • PPE Required: Steel-toed boots, long pants, long sleeves, heavy-duty gloves, face mask.
