Our Fleet Management team provides the core infrastructure and experience to deploy and operate a world class platform across all customer environments, cloud providers, and deployment options - multi-tenant SaaS, single-tenant SaaS, and Self-Managed VPC and Onprem. The team provides frameworks, pipelines and tooling for engineering teams to efficiently run their services at scale.

The Senior Engineering Manager will lead a Control Plane Services foundational team, which is responsible for the Build, Run, and Own lifecycle of the core Kubernetes infrastructure for DataRobot SaaS environments and related instances. This role enables DataRobot Engineering to safely and efficiently deliver features to SaaS and self-managed customers at scale. This role involves managing teams, collaborating with various cross-functional stakeholders, and driving infrastructure standards adoption, cloud infrastructure patterns and unifying SaaS and Self-managed delivery at DataRobot.

Our team is expanding and looking for an Engineering Manager to help us develop the very foundation for the entire DataRobot. The Common Infrastructure platform is an opinionated Kubernetes implementation, following best practices for security, reliability and maintainability. It leverages modern, cloud-native technologies to provide scalable, production-grade environments for deploying the DataRobot platform. Team goal is to make DataRobot a cloud native application across all major clouds as well as on-premises environments. We are Kubernetes experts and enthusiasts building multi-tenanted secure and reliable Kubernetes based platform. We utilize advanced mechanisms based on declarative Kyveron policies, Cilium CNI, sophisticated ingress and egress rules, advanced autoscaling and other interesting techniques to empower dozens of DataRobot services. We manage and build infrastructure in a repeatable and declarative way and run massive clusters in all major clouds.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the team delivering core infrastructure of the DataRobot Platform

  • Own the roadmap, backlog and help driving the team work

  • Facilitate technical design of the new components and be a tie breaker

  • Pioneer and drive adoption of the Kubernetes ecosystem across the company

  • Partner with other DataRobot teams to help them embark on a (multi) cloud journey

  • Coach, inspire and develop engineers on the team

Knowledge, Skills , and Abilities

  • 5-7 years of proven experience designing and implementing high-quality solutions in a collaborative environment including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Expert proficiency in Kubernetes. Experience in building and running software systems on Kubernetes clusters in production including resource management scheduling, auto-scaling, and cluster networking

  • Deep understanding of Software Architecture and Infrastructure setups in common cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • Designing scalable systems and data modeling

  • Deep understanding of business and tech processes

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders (Directors, VPs, or C-Suite), both technical and non-technical

  • Having an analytical, data-driven, and efficiency-focused approach

  • Working hands-on with high attention to detail and having a get-things-done mentality

  • Demonstrated success managing a team of high-performing professionals

  • Solid communication skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in CS, MIS, or equivalent experience

Nice To Have

  • Experience building multi-tenant platforms

  • Experience delivering software to both SaaS and on-premise environments.

  • Desire to mentor software engineers in all aspects of their engineering skill-sets.
