The Cigna Group Employee Engagement Writer, Communications, Senior Advisor in Bloomfield, Connecticut

In your role as an Employee Engagement Writer, you will develop compelling content covering The Cigna Group’s business, enterprise updates and strategic initiatives that keeps our leaders, managers and all employees more informed, engaged and inspired.

As an industry leader offering a wide variety of health services, we have a diversified portfolio of businesses that support medical, pharmacy and behavioral care for our clients – primarily employers, governments and health plans. With this newly-created role, we will be able to keep our employees – at all levels – more deeply connected to our enterprise-wide strategy and each other through a coordinated communications strategy. Our vision is to create a content engine that continuously keeps employees informed about key business priorities outside their immediate role or function and in turn, better positioned to inspire and motivate their respective teams.

No two days on our team will look the same, which means you’ll work on a variety of projects and with a variety of people. There is a significant amount of change in our industry and within our organization, so your creativity, flexibility, and can-do attitude will serve you well and make for an exciting role.

Key responsibilities and projects

  • Develop and execute a communications strategy and content calendar to engage, inspire and inform various employee groups – all employees, managers and leaders.

  • Develop and /or adapt pieces of business content for different employee groups – including all employees managers and leaders, which can sometimes mean taking a complex piece of writing and making it shorter with broad applicability. Additionally, find opportunities where visual storytelling may be more efficient and effective than copy-driven stories.

  • Develop talking points, presentations, emails, and other forms of communications based on business announcements, policies, and updates.

  • Serve as strategic resource for colleagues across the organization and help advise on proper channels, key messaging, and more for key communications.

  • In alignment with the overall communications strategy, and in consultation with business leaders, seek out and actively pursue story ideas across the business.

  • Conduct interviews with business leaders to story mine and ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Support the production of our comprehensive messaging binder for use in content and executive level presentations across all lines of business.

  • Monitor content performance metrics, analyze audience engagement, and optimize content strategies to maximize reach and impact.

What you need for success

  • You have 7-10+ years of experience in corporate communications, journalism, or related fields or a degree that emphasizes writing and critical thinking.

  • Health care experience is a plus.

  • A good sense of storytelling and an ability to connect all we do to our customers, clients and patients.

  • Strong writing for a variety of audiences, but particularly online, informal writing. You will need to share writing samples during the recruiting process.

  • Very high attention to detail, particularly in writing and proofing.

  • Experience managing and delivering projects with a strategic mindset.

  • Strong creative skills, including visual communications.

  • Eagerness to learn new skills, and about our highly complex business.

  • Comfort managing multiple projects, deadlines, and deliverables.

  • Ability to work in a team setting and as an individual contributor.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
