Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for operating, optimizing, and maintaining assigned production equipment. Your role is crucial in meeting and exceeding production standards while maintaining product quality. You will focus on minimizing and preventing equipment downtime, sustaining budgeted waste levels, and ensuring accurate equipment logs and downtime records. Additionally, you will perform preventative maintenance, start up equipment, monitor component inventories and safety guards, and maintain a neat and orderly production environment. Addressing in-process quality issues and supporting upstream and downstream operations are also key aspects of your role.
Responsibilities
Operate, optimize, and maintain assigned production equipment.
Meet and exceed production standards while maintaining product quality.
Minimize and prevent equipment downtime and sustain budgeted waste levels.
Maintain accurate equipment logs and record downtime and maintenance problems.
Perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
Start up equipment and ensure accurate functioning.
Monitor component inventories and safety guards.
Maintain a neat and orderly production environment.
Monitor in-process quality and address issues as needed.
Perform required checks and process challenges.
Follow safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements.
Support upstream and downstream operations.
Perform rework as required.
Work optimally in a team environment.
Essential Skills
Mechanical background (mechanic, maintenance mechanic, auto mechanic, etc.).
Experience with hand tools, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics, preventive maintenance, conveyor systems, motors, valves, and cams.
Repair and troubleshooting skills.
Experience with mechanical PM on machines.
Pneumatics experience.
Basic understanding of mechanics and troubleshooting.
Experience with CAM drives, pneumatic driven cycles, pneumatic cylinders, conveyors, sprockets, valves, and motors.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical experience or proficiency required with 2 years of experience preferred.
Knowledge of automated processes.
6-12 months of manufacturing experience desired.
Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics required.
Proficiency with basic hand tools.
Familiarity with mechanical components such as bushings, chain drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and ball valves.
Familiarity with electrical components such as photo-eyes, scales, reed switches, VFDs.
Ability to work autonomously and be self-motivated.

Work Environment
This is a direct placement position with a night shift schedule (3-2-2-3 from 8pm-8am). Extensive training will be provided during the first shift before transitioning to the night shift. The plant operates 24/7 with approximately 900 employees, offering a large and dynamic work environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Sumter, South Carolina.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $56160.00/yr.
