WSP USA Associate Director - Rail International in Birmingham, United Kingdom
YOUR TEAM
The Rail International team is currently delivering Projects across all continents from feasibility to detailed design, construction support and hand over of Rail and light rail projects for a wide variety of clients. We deliver Projects where we are both the lead organisation and also where we support our colleagues in other countries where we have a strong presence; Drawing on resources from around the UK and wider business to support our technical capabilities and deliver excellence for our clients.
Joining a specialist Project delivery focussed team ranging in Project Management experience from early career professionals to 20+ years.
Working collaboratively with clients and our international colleagues to deliver programmes of strategic regional and national importance.
Roles offer development opportunities both within the UK team and internationally with the Global community of WSP.
Opportunity to gain formal PM qualifications through the APM pathway including mentorship and guidance.
Modern offices in great city centre locations.
Working as part of our International Rail team supporting project managing as well as pursuit and delivery of international projects utilising our UK and related iCRC resources
Maximising opportunities for WSP
The role will involve both work from the UK with opportunities to work internationally for periods on a typical 70:30 basis over a period of time
Provision of support and assistance to others in the Rail team on a variety of cross sector schemes and commissions
To manage WSP Business Management Systems and contract set up, reporting and controls
To manage contract change control, cash flow and financial risk
Your new role – what’s involved:
Typical role covers all aspects of project leadership including client management, scope, schedule, commercial, change and risk & issue management.
Leading tenders and seeking out opportunities for the Rail business
Developing solutions to issues and executing plans to mitigate them;
Managing multidisciplinary teams over an international and diverse group to deliver;
Reporting of progress and escalation of issues;
Supporting other Project Managers through change requests and managing their implementation
Experience of working within the International Rail and Light Rail environment, specifically in the management of international clients and cross business processes will be advantageous.
This role would suit experienced professionals with Project Management experience, now seeking to develop their career further.
We’d love to hear form you if you have:
Degree qualified and Chartered of a relevant professional body
Experience of project, design, technical management and tendering, of rail projects internationally
Awareness of the use of standard forms of Contract, in particular NEC and/or FIDIC
Strong Commercial awareness
Multi Discipline leadership Capability
Excellent communication skills, beneficial if multi-lingual
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with minimal support
Additional experience in one or more of the following sectors is beneficial
Highways & Transportation
Civils, Bridge & Ground Engineering
Intelligent Transport Systems
Entrepreneurial and proactive approach to tasks
Flexible and committed to completing the tasks in hand
Organised with effective time management capability
Flexible and prepared to work away from home office, either visiting or on short-term assignment to other offices or sites, approximately 30% of the year
