SummaryAssist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties. Performs tasks that require physical labor at construction sites, must have the ability to perform a variety of duties.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Clean and prepare construction site as needed.Dig, spread, shovel and level dirt and gravel.Use various hand tools such as a pick, rake and shovel.Lift, carry and support construction material.Mix, pour, and spread concrete, gravel and other materials.Manually excavate, trench, assemble/disassemble temporary structures such as scaffolding/fencing, remove rubble and debris.Perform clean-up work in connection with the above work.Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.Collaborate with other construction workers such as equipment operators and foremen to coordinate tasks.Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.Follow environmental regulations and guidelines to protect the natural surroundings.Provide suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency. CompetenciesKnowledge of applicable safety regulations and safe work practices.Strong time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNone. Work EnvironmentActive construction site, mining area, or other industrial setting where large scale projects are taking place.Working around various heavy equipment operations. Exposure to various weather conditions such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind.Minimum RequirementsMust be at least eighteen (18) years of age.Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future.Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to handle long hours of standing and manual labor.Effective communication and teamwork abilities, with a professional and positive attitude towards coworkers and clients. Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Two years related experience in the construction industry preferred.OSHA 10/OSHA 30 Certification a plusCurrent first aid/CPR certification a plusWillingness to relocate for future job opportunities.Physical RequirementsMust be able to endure prolonged periods of standing and manual labor.Ability to exert heavy physical effort, use various hand tools such as a pick, rake and shovel and handle average weight objects up to 50 pounds.Ability to kneel, stoop, crouch, climb or crawl and maintain balance.Ability to tolerate heights without fear.Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time, reach for, handle, and manipulate items and to work in extreme weather conditions (cold and wet).Able to work long, irregular and varied hours, 60 to 70 hours per week.Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.Ability to safely and effectively perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
