Position Type: Community Education Date Posted: 1/8/2025 Location: Liberty Elementary Date Available: 02/03/2025 Job Summary: Under the direction of the Hive Time Site Supervisor, the Hive Time Assistant assists the planning and implementation of the Hive Time program and its daily activities. This classification provides assistance by participating in and supervising daily activities and site areas in accordance with program guidelines, operations and daily plans. Must be available to work Monday through Friday not to exceed 40 hours per week. % time Essential functions of the job include the following: 10% Assists the Site Supervisor in the planning and implementing daily age appropriate activities within the Hive Time Program. 70% Assists in supervising assigned activities, events or areas, as delegated. 10% Monitors and supervises the behavior of children to enforce the rules and guidelines of the Hive Time Program and to assure the safety of children. Follows and enforces the policies and procedures of the preschool aged child care program. 10% Assists and participates in the cleaning, organizing and set up of games, materials or supplies needed prior to and during the program. Performs other duties of a comparable level or type. Education Training and Experience Requirements: Requires High School education and some previous childcare experience; or an equivalent combination of education/training/experience necessary to perform the requirements of the job. License Requirements: None required to gain entry into the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Technical: Knowledge of preschool and/or school aged childcare practices, issues and concerns. Ability to learn, follow, and apply department activities, childcare procedures and routines of Hive Time Skilled in applying judgment and care in supervising, monitoring and providing for the care of children of various ages. Skilled in providing age appropriate activities that will provide the child with activities to stimulate their creativity, imagination, communication skills, or ability to interact with others. Language: Ability to read, analyze and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write routine correspondence, notes, and/or memos. Ability to effectively interact and supervise children in various structured and unstructured activities. Mathematics: Ability to perform basic and general math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Ability to perform these operations using units of currency, weight, volume and/or distance. Human Relations: Requires skill to provide basic client services to the public and children within the Hive Time Program. Duties require tact, courtesy, and cooperation when dealing with parents, staff, and children primarily for the purposes of providing and exchanging information.
