We have an immediate opportunity to join the Corporate Sustainability Organization - Environmental Remediation Team as the Manager of Environmental Engineering 2 at our Bethpage, New York location.

This position reports to the Manager EHS Engineering 3. The incumbent will serve as a member of the environmental remediation team with direct responsibility for the success of onsite remediation projects and the performance of remediation project managers under his/her direction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Direct and guide technical implementation of remedial activities to ensure project success

  • Review/approve/monitor project-specific scope, schedule, and budget

  • Participate in quarterly financial and performance reviews

  • Compile project status and financial data for management reviews

  • Provide QA/QC on agency deliverables from project managers and contractors

  • Oversee contractor bidding, selection and contract award process

  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental health and safety requirements (e.g., RCRA, OSHA)

  • Oversee purchase requisition and invoice approval processes

  • Perform routine program troubleshooting functions

  • Implement sustainable remediation practices where applicable

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders on project status and milestones

  • Manage a staff of project managers and remediation engineers

  • Oversee execution of project strategies, forecasts, budgets, plans, and goals

  • Review project status and technical and cost performance

  • Assess project issues and develop solutions

  • Provide for coaching and mentoring staff and sustaining engagement

The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of federal and state environmental laws and regulations, project management methodologies, chemical/mechanical processes, agency and community interaction, and cost and project controls. Candidate must have the ability to drive change, lead cross-functional activities, and build relationships at all levels of the organization and with external vendors and suppliers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 13+ years of experience in the field of environmental remediation OR Master’s Degree and 11+ years of experience in the field of environmental remediation

  • Required experience includes at least a BS degree from an accredited institution with a focus in an engineering field (including environmental, chemical, civil, and mechanical) or relevant science field (including environmental science and geology)

  • Proven environmental remediation savvy and application

  • A minimum of 8 years of project management experience in field operations and remedial construction

  • Takes ownership and is accountable with an “owners” mindset

  • Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively with local, state and federal regulatory staff and leadership

  • Demonstrates resiliency and is an effective leader amidst change

  • Acts with speed meeting internal/external customer requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills, an exceptional self-starter attitude, and the ability to produce in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Strong business/financial acumen, keen organizational skills, and excellent problem-solving ability

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree is preferred

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) accreditation is preferred

  • Preferred familiarity with New York State Environmental Regulations

  • Preferred experience working with NYSDEC (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation) and NYSDOH (New York State Department of Health)

  • Preferred experience working with US EPA Region 2

Salary Range: $125,500 - $188,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
