Fleet Mechanic

Position:  Fleet Mechanic

Parking Lot Painting Company (PLP Co.) has built a reputation for being a premier specialty contractor involved in the installation and removal of pavement markings. Our customers look for us to provide a quality product and produce our product in a timely manner.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fleet Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and fix a variety of vehicle & equipment issues. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Diagnostics and Repairs: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Repairs and maintains construction equipment of various types and sizes from light-duty to heavy-duty (class 8) trucks and from light-duty to heavy duty operating equipment.

  • Emergency Assistance: If needed provide roadside assistance for vehicles that have broken down, including repairs and towing coordination if necessary.

  • Vehicle & System Maintenance: Perform preventative maintenance following OEM specifications as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams. Remove and replace defective parts by dismantling devices using hand and power tools.

  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly maintained.

  • Test repaired equipment to ensure proper functioning when used.

  • Occasionally fabricate, weld and cut parts, using arc-welding/ wire feed and flame cutting equipment.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Perform DOT inspections.

  • Perform related and other duties as requested.

    Skills and Qualifications:

     

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience as a mechanic.

  • Diagnostic Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of mechanical issues with vehicles and equipment.

  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • High School Diploma of GED

  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred not required.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a CDL license is preferred.

  • Must have a good driving record with no major violations within the last 5 years or be accepted by the company insurance policy provider to drive PLP company vehicles.

    Position Requirements:

  • Must comply with PLP Company Substance Abuse Policy and DOT Drug Control Program, which includes pre-employment and random drug and/or alcohol testing.

  • Must have experience with diesel engines, gas engines and hydraulics.

  • Must have a manual-hand-finger dexterity.

  • Must have eye-hand-foot coordination.

  • Must be able to lift and/or transport +50 pounds.

  • Must be willing to workdays, nights, weekends, and occasional travel.

  • 10hr+ workdays / 40hr+ work weeks

  • Exhibit teamwork.
