Wells Fargo Technology Director – Consumer Technology India & Philippines in Bengaluru, India
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a leader to be part of Consumer Technology India & Philippines. The leader will be responsible for driving the technology strategy, architecture and engineering practices across Consumer Technology (CT) and build engineering solutions are scalable, secure and drive developer productivity, software quality and overall operational efficiency. This role will have senior managers as direct reports and will also oversee the allocation of people and financial resources at I&P to ensure efficient and effective management of the teams aligned with strategic objectives and will make critical technology decisions requiring strong operational risk and customer impact management.
In this role, you will:
Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
Lead team to achieve objectives
Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
Define and drive the A&E strategy and roadmap aligned with CT & Gen AI objectives
Collaborate with CT & Gen AI CIOs and their teams to translate their need into scalable and sustainable engineering solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and drive developer productivity, code quality and efficiency.
Drive a culture of engineering excellence with a focus on automation, DevOps, high resilience and continuous delivery.
Establish engineering standards, coding practices and quality assurance processes.
Guide teams in the adoption of cloud native architectures and microservices, observability and deployment patterns.
Build, mentor, and lead a high performing engineering team.
Champion continuous learning fostering innovation, technical upskilling and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
6+ years of Management experience
Extensive experience in software architecture and engineering leadership
Proven track record of delivering complex scalable and secure technology solutions
Deep expertise in modern architectural patterns – microservices, APIs, cloud-native, event-driven.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business audiences.
Desired Qualifications:
8+ years of technology experience, including leadership experience managing a complex technology organization at scale including delivery managers, managers, individual contributors (engineers and architects) and vendor resources across multiple locations and geographies in a matrix model.
Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale and complexity.
Strong knowledge and understanding of the financial, operational, technical and regulatory drivers impacting a complex and dynamic global technology environment.
Strong relevant prior experiences in effective management of technology financials and risk.
Strong understanding of global technology trends and practices including cloud, open banking, big data and Agile/DevOps working.
A seasoned, relationship-driven leader with the style and cultural sensitivity to effectively initiate and lead change across a highly complex, global business environment and organization.
Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.
Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style.
Proven experience as a highly effective leader with credibility from demonstrating strong business and technology acumen.
Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
Demonstrated vendor negotiation and partnership skills.
Job Expectations:
Overall responsibility for Engineering activities across Consumer Technology I&P
Jointly accountable, in a global function, for delivery and performance, in partnership with the respective leaders, including service management and operational risk management.
Manage and allocate appropriate people and financial resources to ensure efficient and effective platform management.
Assess current staff capabilities, identify talent gaps, and execute talent management actions driving workforce strategy effectively leveraging globally interchangeable talent pool.

Develop and implement a strategic operating plan that delivers improvements in current customer experiences, new features and compelling and distinct services in customer footprint.
