Job Summary
A Deputy County Clerk is a deputized employee of the County Clerk who performs acts which, under the seal of the County Court become the official act of the County Clerk. A Deputy County Clerk acts as registrar, recorder and custodian of Official Public Records, instruments, court pleadings, and other documents that are part of any cause of action filed in the County Courts at Law of Bell County, Texas. The Deputy County Clerk shall perform in the name of the County Clerk, all official acts of the office of County Clerk including but not limited to specialized tasks requiring application of department procedures and state law regulations.
Supervision Received
Work is performed under the general supervision of the department supervisor, the Chief Deputy and the County Clerk.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent and two (2) years clerical experience
Ability to type 45 wpm; basic computer skills; knowledge of office equipment
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; organize and process work assignments
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service to general public, attorneys and their staff and other County employees
Perform successfully in high stress environment and ability to multi-task
Duties and Responsibilities
Interacts effectively with the public and/or other departments by answering routine inquiries; resolving basic customer service issues; and processing requests for information;
Performs clerical/support duties to include telephone inquiries; data entry; filing alphabetically and numerically;
Prepares and/or processes a variety of documents, instruments, records, billings, and reports to other state and court agencies;
Collects, receipts, disburses funds via cash handling; credit card processing and/or escrow accounting
Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift files, boxes, books and other objects up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and bending as necessary.
