JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Title: Shipper Receiver Company: Western Container Corporation Department: Shipping Reports To: Assistant Plant Manager Financial Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Shipper/ Receiver is responsible for creating a safe and organized work environment that allows for the efficient flow of materials and products into and out of the organization. Receive, store and issues materials as needed for efficient product production. Coordinate shipping process including appropriate paperwork, scheduling trucks and staging information as needed. Individual in this role is detail oriented in ensuring products are shipped and received according to bill of lading and packing slips. This individual is a part of a team environment focused on safely creating products and services that meet and exceed our customers\' expectations in an efficient manner. This position collaborates with management and manufacturing personnel ensuring an excellent product to the customer. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements reflect the general details necessary to describe the major functions of this position and are not intended to be a detailed description of all the work/functions that may be required. Other duties may be assigned. Examine shipment contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices, or orders, to verify accuracy. Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes. Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials. Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications. Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter. Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Deliver or route materials to departments using hand truck, forklift, or sorting bins. Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock. Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped. Coordinate truck scheduling with Plant Manager and Office Manager or their designee. Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list. Compare shipping routes or methods to determine which have the least environmental impact Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
