Principal Software Engineer
Design, develop, and maintain highly-scalable services and provide the foundation for the company's Software as a Service (SaaS) application. Plan and design large-scale, multi-system solutions, train other engineers, and participate in the entire development lifecycle, from concept to release including all phases of quality assurance, operations, and defect resolution. Build highly-scalable, high availability web applications using Agile methodologies. Write documentation and test cases and perform unit and integration testing for developing software components, and perform troubleshooting and debugging to solve issues. Build high performance software applications. Position may include additional duties that utilize the required skills. Telecommuting permitted up to 100% from any Smartsheet registered location in the U.S.
Requires a Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, and three years of experience in: designing and developing software applications utilizing high-level, object-oriented programming languages, including Java; designing and developing web-based software applications, using front-end languages and frameworks, including JavaScript and React; building data structures, storage systems and cloud infrastructure, and building Microservices in AWS; and implementing software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including requirement gathering, coding standards, peer code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Telecommuting permitted up to 100% from any Smartsheet registered location in the U.S.

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive incentive opportunity. Salary Range: $220,900 to $270,000 per year.
