Nike Sr. Software Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon
The Content Technology Team is building solutions for the management and delivery of image and video at the scale of Nike’s global athlete community. We rely upon Agile principles to devise cloud-based solutions to build a best-in-class digital asset management and delivery platform. We participate in the open-source community and partner with key vendors. At our core we are a team with diverse talents and interests that strive to build world class platforms. Together we will build a world class asset management and delivery platform. This platform is a key piece to the automates and delivery of dynamic media content to the world’s athletes. It feels natural for this team to solve challenges that come our way like solving the digital asset production and management.
Goals of the Marketing Technology group at Nike:
• Automate the production of marketing images and video
• Support Nike’s Marketing team to inspire athletes using digital media
• Collaborate with media production teams to support their creative process
• Measure our impact and continually improve our connection to the consumer
The Content Technology team will focus on making a scalable management and delivery platform to manage and deliver Nike’s digital media to downstream system such as our CMS, social, and mobile experiences. We will use the cloud to scale our application, and technologies like CDNs to help provide reliable access to our assets around the globe.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
As a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer , you will play an important role in developing an innovative and highly scalable platform to manage (usage rights, permissions, search) and deliver digital assets (image and video) to Nike’s downstream system, as well as to Nike partners. You will use your in-depth experience in software development to write clean, tested, and well-documented code, as well as provide peer code review and mentor other engineers on the team.
You should be a true Full-stack Software Engineer - approximately 40% of your work will be front-end focused, while approximately 60% of your work will be back-end focused.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
Innovating, architecting, designing, and implementing highly available, scalable systems, focusing on highly visible marketing initiatives
Contributing ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively
Collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset delivery system that is part of our digital asset management platform
Collaborate with upstream and downstream technical teams to develop integrations to provide a seamless flow of our marketing assets from curation to delivery
Provide technical leadership and best engineering practices to continuously deliver working software by mentoring other developers
WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH
This role is part of the Asset Management pillar in Nikes Brand Creative and Digital Assets group within Marketing Technology. You will work with Product Managers, other engineering / development teams, and QA teams to accelerate software development and increase quality.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or similar field or relevant professional experience, education, and training
At Least 6 years’ experience developing highly scalable applications, APIs, and services
At least 6 years' experience with designing and tuning relational database and non-relational databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch)
Strong professional experience with NodeJS and React
Experience in microservices architecture, domain driven design (DDD), and RESTful Services using languages such as Java, NodeJS, Typescript, and Graphql
Experience with modern UI frameworks such as MFE
Experience using cloud services to build an integrated application in production (AWS - EC2, ECS, API gateway, Lambda)
Experience with implementing CI/CD and leading teams with DevOps responsibilities of deploying and supporting the software in production
Experience with E2E observability, monitoring, and notifications
You’re a self-starter with a passion for technology and a burning desire to constantly improve yourself, the product, and the codebase
Comfortable working within an exciting fast-paced environment by reducing ambiguity and building trust with the team
Willingness to explore new technologies and creative solutions
Strong at estimating work, planning, organization, and implementing complex software projects
Familiarity with the challenge of moving large files across a geographically disperse network; knowledge of different accelerated transfer methods and technologies
Development experience with digital asset management systems like Nuxeo or Alfresco is a plus
