TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION L256 Material/Process Inspector I-III in Beaumont, Texas
Performs material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties:Material/Process Inspector I:Investigates compaction probelsm associated with hot mitx asphaltic concrete.Keeps equioment mileage and service records and schedules equipment repairs.Maintains a diary of incpection or test details.Maintains and calibrates equipment. Performs tests and inspection duties.Records test dats on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement. Reports test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems. Secures, logs, and prepares samples of raw materials or manufactured materials at various staged pf production for testing. Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to mointior status of programs. Material/Process Inspector II: Handles material or production problems referred by less experiences inspectors.Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues materials reports.Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.Coordinates core drill or auger rig operations.Maintains a diary of inspection or test details.Maintains and calibrates equipment.Performs tests and inspection duties.Records test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurement.Records test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems.Secures, logs in and preapres samples or raw materials or manufactured materials at various stages of production for testing. Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status or programs.Material/Process Inspector III:Advises supervisor of inspection activities and porblems at plants and assists in coordinating inspections.Coordinates tests and inspection results with engineers, inspectors, material producers and suppliers and field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems. Orders equipment and supplies.Analyzes procdeures to identify defencied and recommends improvements to management.Conducts nuclear density tests on subgrade, base and asphaltic concrete pavement.
