This is a warehouse position that receives and unloads stock and\or equipment. Inspects incoming merchandise and compares to specifications and purchase order. Labels and stores stock in assigned storage locations. Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs and must work in inclement weather conditions (ex. heat, cold, rain).

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years of experience in which clerical work was a major duty.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.

NOTE:

Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.

NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Examples of Work

Function Statement:

The overall function of this position is to assist in the logistical management of material flow for DOTD from raw materials to finished goods in LaGov’s SAP Warehouse Management module for all Plants, Storage Locations, Parishes, and Units statewide. This position carries out goods receiving, issuing and storage of goods and materials ordered from vendors for DOTD’s Satewide Central Warehouse Distribution Center. Goods and materials are stored in the Central Warehouse and issued to DOTD inventory sites and remote locations on a statewide basis. Nearly 3,000 materials are received, stored and shipped from the Central Warehouse, Plant 276E and 276Z.

This position is located in Section 55/Unit 004 of the Department of Transportation and Development and reports directly to the Administrative Supervisor. The incumbent must have extensive specialized knowledge of DOTD’s inventory and non-inventory materials in the SAP Inventory Management and Warehouse Management Systems requirements, such as Storage types, Storage Locations, Bin Types, and Bin Sections. Must be self-motivated and be able to perform duties independently with little to no supervision on a regular basis, and exercise a high degree of judgment and initiave. They must determine the approach or action to take in non-routine situations that may arise and must have a general understanding of WIFI technology. This position receives materials for one (1) Warehouse Managed location (1010) in Plant 276E, one (1) storage location for Plant 276Z (5040), multiple storage locations for 276T and non-inventoried materials for Plant 276A, Section 56.

The incumbent will participate in appropriate DOTD structured training programs which includes but is not limited to Inventory Requests—DOA Web-based, Materials Management / Inventory Management

The incumbent is required to possess the following specialized knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as to maintain the following licensing and operate the following equipment:

Ability to obtain certification to operate forklifts and maintain a Louisiana State Driver’s License, Class E

Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; abilty to compute capacity in cubic inches. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with variables in standard situations. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, feel, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; sit, climb or balance; work in uncomfortable positions, bending, turning, pushing pulling, operate hand and foot controls on forklifts.

Work environment may be inside and outside in hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lit areas; exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, grease, high noise levels, operate vehicles in all types of weather and terrains.

Equipment used—RF scanning device, personal computer, PC printer and Zebra label printer, measuring tape, calculator, barcode software, Outlook, telephone, faxing, forklift, pallets, dollies, manual and electric shelf ladders, utility knife, banding equipment, band cutting tools, weight scale, automatic stretch wrapping equipment, bolt cutters, pallet pullers, shrink wrap equipment, electric sealer, any other equipment that you are trained for.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

60% SAP Warehousing Requirements (46 IM Transaction codes, 64 Warehouse Management Transaction codes, RF scanning device, personal computer, PC printer and Zebra label printer, measuring tape, calculator, barcode software, Outlook, telephone, fax machine, forklift, pallets, dollies, manual and electric shelf ladders, utility knife, banding equipment, band cutting tools, weight scale, automatic stretch wrapping equipment, bolt cutters, pallet pullers, shrink wrap equipment, electric sealer, etc.

Works independently to issue material to the statewide districts by processing electronically according to the generated WM pick ticket and adheres to all prompts given by the RF, which updates inventory immediately, may also be processed using the desktop when RF is not available. Prints various labels using the Zebra printer, labels, shrink/stretch wraps, palletizes and bands material so that it is stable for shipping and stores in the Interm Shipping area in the appropriate storage location until pickup. Sends notificiation by email to the requestor informing them that the requested material is ready for pickup. Assist the requesting party with the loading of matrial into there vehicle. Picks and ships non-inventoried materials stored by the Department to state wide requestors (state maps, bike maps, water, cones, MRE’s, etc.) Makes supervisor aware of any discrepancies as soon as they are discovered during the issuing process.

Advises the supervisor of the need to reduce inventory counts for materials that are no longer usable, expired or damaged. Uses WM transactions to perform tasks including but not limited to locate material for inquiries, reprint labels and move material from bin to bin. Complete written request for non-inventory materials and supplies needed for warehouse use.

Receives materials from vendors while maintaining inventory accuracy by processing material electronically using RF device or desk top to ensure accurate counts against PO, packing slip, and spec check. Note in writing any damages or missing pieces, etc. Sign off that the delivery is correct on the purchase order and print Receiving Sheet for material listed on the Purchase Order. Make necessary notation on Receiving Sheet. Email the appropriate party for material review and approval signature. Until approved, a copy of the Purchase order should be attached to the material and it should be stored in the interim storage location. After approval signatures are obtained turn all paperwork over to Supervisor for completion of the Good Receipt, removal from quality and creation of put away transfer order. Label materials with barcoded labels created using Encoder. Use RF or desktop to complete the transfer order to store inventory material in specific bins in LaGov. Notify supervisor of the need to have storage capacity for materials changed that are not allowed for designated storage area. Use forklift or physically place material in the designated storage area. Notify appropriate parties of non inventory materials and inventory material for 276T that their materials have been fully processed and are now ready for pickup.

Report needs for supplies for use in warehousing such as shrink wrap, tape guns, banding equipment, etc. to the warehouse supervisor so that a request for an outside vendor can be made. Also checks the janitorial supply room and reports the need for replenish inventory items to replenish to the supervisor, so that a requisition can be completed.

30% Inventory

WM Warehouse Operator Security and WM Display Security allows incumbent to display and print Physical Inventory Documents (PID’s). Performs Inventory Counts and records on paper documents if WIFI is unavailable, requiring counts to be entered in SAP separately. Performs Inventory Counts without a printed paper document via RF devices.

Perform and enter spot checks when prompted by the RF device during the picking process. This is triggered automatically when material removed from bins will cause the bin to be empty.

5% Equipment

Performs preventive maintenance checks for Delivery Van (inspection sticker, water levels in radiator and battery, air pressure in tires, etc.). Check propane levels used for the forklifts. Check water levels in batteries used in pallet jacks, forklifts, floor scrubber, etc. Check air pressure in forklift and delivery van tires. Drop off and pick up equipment from the Central Repair Shop after repairs are completed. Office equipment used includes, but not limited to: Desktop computer, telephone, 10-key calculator, 2-way radio, fax machine, RF scanning devices, laserjet printers, Zebra barcode printers, copiers, etc.)

5% Miscellaneous

May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to, emergency/disasters
