Responsibilities- Works under the supervision of the Cook II. The Cook I will act independently or assist in the performance of any and all duties necessary to keep the facility in full operation. Will perform other duties as assigned. As directed, independently performs moderately difficult tasks in preparing quantities of quickly prepared foods such as steaks, chops, cutlets, hamburgers, eggs, salads and other similar items. Qualifications- A high school diploma or GED is required. One year experience in large scale cooking. Must be at least 18 years of age. This position requires you to successfully pass a thorough background investigation, including fingerprint check, criminal history and pre-employment drug test prior to starting work.
Random drug testing will be performed. May be required to cross train in various departments. This position requires the candidate to be a US citizen, or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years. This position requires you to be able to read, speak, write and understand English. Must have inter/intra communication skills with employees and department heads. Must be able to follow Standard Codes of Conduct pertaining to interaction with detainee population. May lift or push up to 50 lbs. For extended periods of time may be required to stand, walk, squat, kneel, sit, bend, reach and climb. Work areas may include all areas of the facility. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and solvents. Works in close proximity to steam or gas ovens and grills that produce intense heat.
