SAUK COUNTY Psychiatric Prescriber in BARABOO, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: The purpose of the Psychiatric Prescriber is to provide psychiatric treatment, medication, and oversight to consumers of Sauk County Department of Human Services. *This position is for an independent contractor. *Compensation is bi-weekly - no fringe benefits. *Send all applications/resumes to jill.ellinwood@saukcountywi.gov Essential Duties and Responsibilities Act as a licensed practicing psychiatric prescriber, providing psychiatric services including psychiatric evaluations. Use critical thinking and medical expertise to assess and evaluate consumers for further psychiatric intervention, or a higher level of care, whether it be for physical, mental health, substance use, or other needs. Perform standards of practice for medication psychiatric providers, which includes the delivery of ethical medication prescribing abiding by all federal laws, rules, and regulations. Meet all Department standards for quality care and services. Complete medication orders using electronic prescribing, conduct personal quality assurance checks, complete medication consent forms, give directions to and educate pharmacies, clinical staff, and consumers, and verify, and implement orders from other health care professionals. Order labs and review lab results with support of psychiatric nursing staff. Complete documentation within the electronic health record, as specified by applicable federal and state statues, rules, and regulations. Review and document interfacing with Wisconsin Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (Wi/ePDMP). Provide consultation, collaboration, and education with internal providers and programs, external clinics and providers, physicians, and other disciplines in the community. Complete and sign insurance paperwork, disability paperwork, accommodation requests, and other documentation as requested by consumers or providers. Provide consumers with psychiatric psychoeducation regarding risk and benefits of medications, adverse reactions, food/medication interactions, symptom management, medication compliance, health conditions and wellness activities. Comply with all pertinent federal and state statues, rules, regulations, and county ordinances related to data and information systems compliance and confidentiality of information, including all federal regulations implementing the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). Understand and abide by all administrative policies, procedures, and directives of the Department, and comply with and adhere to the clinical policies, procedures and directives of the Department. Additional Duties and Responsibilities 1. Participate in ongoing professional training, development, and clinical supervision to maintain professional licensure and board certification. 2. Maintain personal professional liability insurance and general liability insurance in the amount of 1,000,000.00 dollars single limit and \$300,000,000.00 dollars annual aggregate coverage. 3. Complete a caregiver background check including the Background Information Disclosure (BID) form and provide results prior to expiration (printed) to the Department. 4. Provide back-up nursing support and completion of vitals 5. Provide supervision to psychiatric interns 6.
