About the position:
The Subsurface Digital Specialist will be part of the Chevron ENGINE Subsurface organization as the selected individual will work with cross-functional technical staffs of Earth Scientists and Petroleum Engineers and will add to the breadth of digital skills and experiences of the team. The successful candidate will collaborate with subsurface cross-disciplinary SMEs, Business Units, and Digital Platform to develop innovative technical solutions and build partnership for product/workflow development and deployment.
Key responsibilities:
Conduct rapid (1-6 months), collaborative Proof Of Concepts (POC) of technical solutions for business challenges, including pilot test of solutions with Business Units
Develop and manage POC aligned with Subsurface Strategic Initiatives and Enterprise Priorities
Provide clear documentation, regular communication with stakeholders, and handover of successful POC for product development
Mentor others on the developed workflow / solutions
Required Qualifications:
BS or Higher degree in Petroleum Engineering or Earth Science discipline with 10+ years of technical oil & gas experience with digital skills
Experience in data science, statistics, software engineering, AI
Proven experience in one or more programming languages such as Python
Proven track records of developing digital solutions, workflow automation is desired is preferred
Ability to build capabilities in new technical areas by leveraging training, documentation, and other team members. Ability to build organizational capabilities in others as needed to raise team performance is a plus
Ability to combine mathematics and statistics, computer science, and domain knowledge to make use of, and/or design & develop Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models that solve business challenges is a plus
Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, supporting business requirements across the world. Accordingly, the work hours for employees will be aligned to support business requirements. The standard work week will be Monday to Friday. Working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm or 1.30pm to 10.30pm.
