Responsibilities

We are looking for software engineers with hands-on experience in building large scale distributed systems to be part of Microsoft Substrate Core Team. Substrate is Microsoft's people centered data and intelligence platform for building productivity services powered by deep understanding of each user and the context of the groups, teams, and organizations with which they work and play.

The Substrate Core team drives acceleration of the Microsoft 365 Data Platform. Our mission is to accelerate and grow a rich and trusted ecosystem for Microsoft 365. Our platform enables 1P and 3P partners to build business and consumer apps on top of Substrate and Exchange Online data. These apps can range from our own flagship products like Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams, to offerings from ISVs like Apple, Barracuda, Relativity, Shopify, and Oracle, as well as home grown solutions from small and large organizations. We run some of the most massive and high-volume services on the planet which affect the lives and livelihood of hundreds of millions of users worldwide and enable them to maximize their productivity through seamless connected experiences.

In this role you will have an opportunity to:

• Work on interesting engineering problems to process exchange data at large scale with security and privacy considerations.

• Build applications/products on modern distributed highly scalable system working/collaborating across goes and functions.

• Work on impactful products that empower every person and organization to achieve more.

• Work on interesting design challenges in Substrate Platform.

• Mentor, Guide other Engineers in the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

• OR equivalent experience.

• Experience in developing and shipping features in large scale distributed systems.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Solid design, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.

• Able to understand unfamiliar code bases, debug server-side, multi-threaded, and highly scalable applications.

• Able to work/collaborate with teams across geos and functions.

• Self-driven, Results oriented and be accountable for your work.
