Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Technician in Baltimore, Maryland

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to report under the general supervision of the faculty member. Will be responsible for performing basic bioinformatic and laboratory analyses and tests such as PCR, DNA purification, cell culture and animal work. This includes routine laboratory data entry and reagent maintenance.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, stocks, and supplies.

  • Preparing laboratory solutions and reagents.

  • Following established procedures and protocols to support lab projects.

  • Implementing basic understanding of theory behind experiments to carry out protocols and identify and trouble-shoot obstacles.

  • Recording data resulting from molecular biology experiments.

  • Analyzing data from molecular biology experiments.

  • Communicating with lab members to coordinate work, share progress, and identify areas in need of troubleshooting.

  • Animal maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate from a technical institute or internship experience.

  • Training Certificate from a technical institute.

Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/02/CB

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($19,000 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Casual / On Call

Schedule: M-F, as needed

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
