CareFirst Data Architecture Manager (Remote) in Baltimore, Maryland

PURPOSE:

As the Manager of Data Architecture, your role is pivotal in shaping and maintaining the data architecture framework within our organization. You will lead the design, development, and implementation of data architecture solutions that support our strategic objectives. Your role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility, while driving innovation and efficiency in data management practices.

You will be responsible for overseeing the data architecture team, providing technical and managerial leadership to ensure the successful execution of data initiatives. Your expertise will guide the development of data models, data integration strategies, and data governance policies, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in fostering a data-driven culture and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Technical Leadership: Lead the design and implementation of robust data architecture solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. You will evaluate and select appropriate technologies and tools to meet the organization's data needs. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and support to the team, ensuring best practices are followed.

  • Team Management: Oversee and mentor a team of data architects and engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. You will be responsible for setting performance goals, conducting regular evaluations, and providing professional development opportunities. Your leadership will ensure the team remains motivated and aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Data Integration: Develop and implement data integration strategies to ensure seamless data flow across systems and applications. You will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to identify integration requirements and design solutions that enhance data accessibility and usability. Your efforts will help streamline data processes and improve overall efficiency.

  • Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies and standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will lead initiatives to define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability within the organization. Your role will also involve monitoring and auditing data practices to ensure adherence to established guidelines.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet organizational needs. You will facilitate communication between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring that data architecture solutions align with business goals. Your ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights will be crucial for successful project outcomes.

  • Innovation: Drive continuous improvement and innovation in data architecture practices, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends. You will evaluate new tools and methodologies, recommending and implementing those that can enhance the organization's data capabilities. Your proactive approach will help maintain a competitive edge and support the organization's strategic vision.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position manages people.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Licenses/Certifications Upon Hire Preferred:

  • Certified System Architect

Experience: 5 years Related professional IT experience in the specific architecture domain. 1 year Supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience

  • Demonstrable Expertise: Proven experience in designing and implementing data architecture solutions in a complex organizational environment.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data integration technologies.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of data professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • Data Governance: Expertise in establishing and enforcing data governance policies and standards.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Innovation: Proven ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement in data architecture practices.

Salary Range: $138,560 - $257,202

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration.
