PW Grosser Consulting, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Wetland Scientist (3-7 years of experience) to join our team. The qualified individual needs to have experience with wetland delineations, stream assessments, threatened and endangered species consultations, technical report writing, and assistance in the preparation of wetland permitting applications for federal, state, and local entities. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and team-oriented, ready to work with a cross-disciplinary team to provide exceptional professional services for our clients.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform field work including wetland delineations, stream assessments, threatened and endangered (T&E) species surveys, and Construction Site/Duration Inspections for projects with SPDES Construction General Permit coverage.

  • Prepare wetland delineation reports and assist in the preparation of appropriate wetland jurisdictional determination / permitting documentation.

  • Stay current with wetland delineation and permitting procedures, statutes, rules, guidance, and policies.

  • Engage with government and regulatory agencies to achieve regulatory compliance with projects.

  • Assist with environmental due diligence (Phase I ESA / Phase II ESA) work.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a closely related field (e.g., Biology, Soil Science etc.)

  • A minimum of 3 years of technical and/or field experience completing wetland delineations, wetland delineation reports, and wetland jurisdictional determination / permit applications (NYSDEC / ACOE)

  • Strong plant identification skills

  • Working knowledge and experience working with local, state (NYSDEC), and federal (ACOE) permitting agencies

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative member of a project team

  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable car

  • Ability to carry up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to swim

Nice to have

  • Experience with threatened and endangered species incidental take permitting

  • Environmental due diligence (Phase I ESA / Phase II ESA) experience

  • Wetland design / restoration project experience

  • GIS experience

This position will be approximately 50% field work and 50% office work. This position is open to candidates in Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Albany and the surrounding areas. Depending on the candidate’s location, the position may be fully remote.
