Test System Engineer II in

Austin, TX, to d

esign, develop, and implement cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment for all phases of product development and manufacturing. Prepare test and diagnostic programs, designs test fixtures and equipment, and complete specifications and procedures for new products. Plan the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Generate functional and technical specification documents for proposed hardware and software test solutions. Author, review and maintain test application code, embedded firmware for microcontroller control, and drivers for external instrument interfaces by using C, Python, Perl, Javascript, and Bash programming languages. Utilize object-oriented programming and develop unit tests for new features. Apply best practices for secure code development and automated test coverage including automated unit testing. Utilize revision control and participate in software system code reviews, following a continuous improvement cycle and practice. Construct and maintain Docker containers, including software tool and package selections. Administrate and manage Linux machines, data transfer, and communication on local and global networks. Read, review, and design electrical schematics and layout collateral for multi-layer PCB (printed circuit boards). Assess data sheets and select integrated circuits based on test requirements, device capabilities, and external instrument characteristics. Validate test solutions performance meet or exceed targeted capabilities. Calibrate, debug and repair test hardware PCBs (printed circuit boards). Create system and application documentation to support the test system user community through both automated and non-automated means. Debug and help resolve hardware and software test system issues in addition to providing training and guidance to test developers. Apply statistical data analysis to analyze system performance and stability. Provide technical support during 3rd party security penetration testing.

The position requires a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, plus 6 months of experience with the following:

Solutions architecture and embedded systems design - integration, and firmware/software development.

Code development in Python, C, embedded C (firmware) with revision control, linting, unit testing, in a continuous integration/deployment environment.

Linux system use and administration.

Authoring technical as well as high-level documentation for technical applications and training modules.

Use of lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.

Secure practices for computer systems, networks.
