Job Description
Riverland’s Theatre Department is a high-energy, performance-oriented program. Plays produced vary from classical tragedy to modern comedy and from full-scale large cast musicals to intimate small cast plays. Students are encouraged to get involved in all areas of theatre production, including, but not limited to, acting, stage management, set building, and painting. Strong academic offerings provide challenges in and out of the classroom. This position includes producing and directing four (4) main stage shows each academic year.
The faculty position includes full-time teaching (30 credits/academic year); evening, online, and off-campus assignments are expected.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Theatre/Theatre Arts OR
Master’s degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in Theatre/Theatre Arts
Preferred Qualification
MFA degree in Theatre / Theatre Arts with focus in Musical Theatre or Directing
Expertise in any of these disciplines: Speech, Voice, Movement, Stage Makeup, Acting and Production for the Camera, Script Analysis, Scriptwriting
Knowledge of all areas of theatre production and business operations
Prior teaching experience and familiarity with different learning styles with the experience / ability to incorporate the latest technology into teaching methods, including online and distance learning strategies, including interactive television
Graduate coursework in teaching theatre
Knowledge of different learning styles
Leadership roles in other higher education settings
Knowlege of all areas of theatre production including acting, stage managing, set building, and costuming
General knowledge of theatre business operations
Bilingual/multilingual fluent in Spanish, Somali, Karen, Anuak, Nuer, or other languages that reflect our student body, workforce, and communities
Demonstrated experience working with multicultural and underserved populations
