Job Summary:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide culturally sensitive individual and family psychotherapy, along with case management services to clients, including coordination of care with other providers and agencies.

  • Collaborate with the IRMHP team to help with clinic referrals, both incoming and outgoing, and conduct phone assessments to ensure clients receive the appropriate level of care.

  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of community resources available in Colorado, including housing assistance, legal aid, and healthcare services.

  • Connect clients with appropriate resources to support their resettlement process and integration into the community.

  • Work collaboratively with clients to establish treatment goals that reflect their individual circumstances and cultural values.

  • Educate trainees in psychiatry, psychology, and social work on refugee mental health.

  • Collaborate with mental health and medical staff to ensure optimal patient care and continuity of services for clients from diverse backgrounds.

  • Work with the evaluation and program outcome teams to provide timely reports for semiannual reviews of patient services and community outreach initiatives.

  • Attend program planning meetings.

  • Attend weekly clinical case conference meetings.

  • Assist with administrative aspects of patient care.

  • Comply with all safety measures, clinic policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

  • LCSW/LPC, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor or LMSW/ MSW clinical licensure candidate or other Master's level mental health clinician.

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience providing therapy.

  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations, demonstrating cultural competence and understanding of associated mental health challenges.

Sr. Instructor:

  • 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience.

  • LCSW/LPC, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor or LMSW/ MSW clinical licensure candidate or other Master's level mental health clinician.

  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience providing therapy.

  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations, demonstrating cultural competence and understanding of associated mental health challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto or Farsi.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Experience in program development.

  • Experience working with children/adolescents and families.

  • Experience with EPIC system.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trust and rapport with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Familiarity with community resources.

  • Demonstrate familiarity in working with clients who speak diverse languages, including use of interpreters to effectively communicate with and support clients.

  • Comfort working with patients with severe and sometimes treatment-refractory illness.

  • Familiarity with Community Resources.

The Instructor/Senior Instructor at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Refugee Mental Health Practice will join the CU Medicine Department of Psychiatry Faculty Practice and University of Colorado Outpatient Clinic in an expanding program working with immigrants and refugees of all ages. Our clients seek care for suffering related to past trauma resettlement and acculturation difficulties, and other mental health issues. The Instructor/Senior Instructor will work with the Refugee Mental Health Program Clinical Director/Medical Director to expand the existing Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health program. Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

The Immigrant and Refugee team members include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and a psychiatric advance practice provider. The team provides initial psychiatric evaluations, ongoing mental health care, and referrals as necessary. The typical schedule is M-F, 8am-5pm.
