We are seeing unprecedented investment in utility scale renewable energy projects including solar, onshore and offshore wind and off-grid hybrid systems. Increasing renewable energy penetration is also necessitating the development of new dispatchable capacity and storage including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES).
AECOM Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) has a long history of providing planning, advisory, grid connection, owner’s engineer and engineering design services for key clients on some of the largest and most complex renewable energy and storage projects.
The Renewable Energy & Storage Leader – NZ is responsible for developing and implementing our strategy to deliver growth within the renewable energy and storage sector across NZ.
Job Description
What will a day in this role look like?
Develop multi-year NZ renewable energy & storage strategy, implementation plans and priority actions/investments in collaboration with our key stakeholders across the business.
Support the delivery of renewable energy & storage projects during execution and implementation by taking on key roles such as Project Director, Project Manager, Lead Verifier or Technical/Discipline Lead.
Identify and engage key clients in collaboration with our regional teams and stakeholders.
Elevate our brand and industry presence through thought leadership and strategic external marketing initiatives.
Drive collaboration with our global energy teams for workshare and capability development, including active participation in our Renewable Energy & Storage Technical Practice Group.

Qualifications
What are we looking for from you?
Proven ability to manage complex energy projects while meeting delivery requirements
Demonstrated consulting experience in the renewable energy industry working with asset owners, developers, suppliers, or power utilities
Leadership skills including technical leadership, team building, innovation and motivational abilities
Sound commercial background, including familiarity with contractual conditions and procedures, and experience of taking commercial responsibility for major projects and businesses
A successful track record in building a renewable energy sector line of business is desirable but not essential
Experience with the Resource Management Act (or Fast Track) consenting processes is an advantage
