Heavy-Duty Auto Mechanic

Department: Auburn Limo

Reports to: General Manager

Location: Auburn

Full-Time: A typical work schedule is standard business hours, with the flexibility required to handle escalations or support during peak times or special projects.

Exempt: Compensation starts at $47,840 to $56,160 annually, depending on experience

Position Summary

As the Heavy-Duty Auto Mechanic, you will play a pivotal role in our company, ensuring the safety and reliability of our limo buses through meticulous maintenance and repairs. We are committed to your safety and professional growth and will cover certification costs if you are not yet DOT inspection certified.

Essential Duties

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Conduct inspections, diagnostic tests, and repairs on limo buses, focusing on safety and functionality.

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including tire changes, brake adjustments, and oil changes.

  • Address any mechanical issues and complete general repairs to ensure vehicle reliability.

  • Follow safety protocols and maintain high standards for repairs.

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on each vehicle.

  • Bring and utilize personal tools for repairs; maintain tools and equipment in good working order.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an auto mechanic, specifically in heavy-duty or commercial vehicle maintenance.

  • Knowledge of brake systems, tires, and general vehicle maintenance.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

  • DOT inspection certification is preferred; the company will provide certification assistance if not certified.

  • Must be able to bring own tools for the job.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

    Your decisions as a Heavy-Duty Auto Mechanic significantly affect the strategy, operational, and business decisions that affect the department. You will encounter varied problems requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation. These problems are solved using your knowledge and skills and general precedents and practices.

    Independence of Action

    Results are defined, and existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods and carry out work activities independently; the supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems.

    Not responsible for supervising others.

  • May involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and vehicle fluids.

  • Requires frequent standing, crouching, bending, and the use of hand tools.

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven setting requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
