As a member of the Leadership Committee, the Director of Operations is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership. This position reports to the hotel General Manager.

The Director of Operations will directly oversee all hotel services including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and Guest Services.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of hotel operations in the front and back of the house

  • Develop and recommend the budget and objectives for all operating departments under supervision and then managing within those plans once approved

  • Ability to assimilate operational statistics quickly and see how they can be used to enhance the guest experience, colleague experience or position of property within the market

  • Developing all standards and operating procedures for all operating departments

  • Participating in MOD program and fulfilling manager coverage as needed

  • Managing large events & ensuring supervision for high volume occupancy including any special requirements.

  • Analyzing rate variances, monitoring credit reports & maintaining a close observation of daily house counts to maximize hotel revenues

  • Coordinating major projects such as renovations, capital expenditures, & equipment changes.

  • Conducting operations meetings, including monthly financial review with subordinate managers & other hotel leaders

  • Supporting revenue & occupancy forecasting & monitoring labor expenses accordingly through schedule approval process.

  • Hiring managers & training subordinate managers and colleagues

  • Coaching and counseling employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds

  • 5 years or more of progressive hotel operations experience (typically with Hyatt)

  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills

  • Proven leadership skills

  • Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset

  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line

  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
