Responsibilities * Evaluates patients to determine developmental or functional status using standardized measures or clinical observations. Identifies patient's strengths and deficits, establishes goals, and develops an individualized treatment plan incorporating patient and family needs. * Administers therapeutic treatment to patients with developmental delay or functional deficits, providing optimal development, function, and independence. Utilizes developmental activities and other treatment techniques to meet specific needs and achieve therapy goals, observes progress or changes and modifies treatment plan accordingly. * Fabricates, recommends, or provides adaptive equipment, splints, or casts to maintain functional body joint positions, restrict muscle contractures, prevent deformities, and improve function or mobility. * Educates on goals and therapy plans, instructs on at home activities, and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding. Documents evaluation results, objective status, progress towards goals, treatment plans, and recommendations. * Communicates and collaborates with families, physicians, third-party payors, and relevant healthcare providers. Maintains administrative functions of individual caseload, including scheduling, entering daily charges, and submitting timely documentation. Places referrals to ensure continuity of care. * Attends continuing education programs and participates in departmental in-service training. Conducts Occupational Therapy educational programs for hospital staff, students, and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs, certified occupational therapist assistants (COTA), and unlicensed personnel, supervising care provided. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy; registered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy; licensed by the State of Ohio.
