Amazon Sr. Software Dev Manager, Payables Tech in Arlington, Virginia

The Amazon Payables Experience Technology Team’s mission is to deliver best-in-class experience to FinOps analysts globally in order for them to be able to manage, execute, and optimize their work. This includes owning some of the Amazon’s most critical vendor information, invoices, disputes, claims, and financial information in highly controller manner. We are looking for a seasoned technology leader, a deep thinker, and a motivator to lead a large and complex engineering organization that is chartered to build next generation payables experience leveraging user research, data, and artificial intelligence including machine learning.

Key job responsibilities

You will lead a highly capable engineering organization, ensuring it has the best talent available and every member is excited about the charter. You will define team's mission and vision. You will develop a mindset to focus on innovation, user experience, and disciplined engineering. You will set goals and build mechanisms to track progress. You will own all aspects of formal and informal customer interactions including managing expectation.

You will develop long term domain/technology strategies for your org. You will influence the processes and engineering best practices. You will lead design reviews and offer feedback on integration, availability, performance, scalability, and user experience. You will serve as an authority in your domain. You will lead an organization with diverse skills, experience, and cultural backgrounds. You will own all aspects of talent development including performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and promoting people.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong technical expertise in AWS technologies, building process automation frameworks, user-focused tools, and passion for creating visually appealing, simple yet effective user interfaces. They will have excellent verbal and written communication. Lastly, they will be a great leader who takes pride in their work and genuinely enjoys developing talent.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience

  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams

  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
