POLITICO Executive Assistant to the CEO in Arlington, Virginia

Description

POLITICO is seeking a dynamic, hands-on Executive Assistant to support our CEO. You will drive the success of the business by handling the day-to-day activities and providing a range of complex administrative support services in a proactive and detail-oriented manner. Success in this role will require effective communication and a trusted relationship between the Executive Assistant and CEO, and the need to respect confidentiality.

The ideal candidate is a smart, proactive, self-starter with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude. To be successful, you thrive in fast-paced environments and respond to requests with urgency and enthusiasm.You must have the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations, possess strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent organization skills.

Note that this is an in-person role based out of our Arlington, Virginia headquarters.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide sophisticated calendar management for the CEO. Prioritize inquires and requests while troubleshooting conflicts, making judgments and recommendations to ensure day-to-day engagements

  • Prepare and anticipate needs for the CEO in advance of meetings, including weekly team leadership meetings, all staff meetings, conferences, and other internal meetings

  • Work closely with the CEO to keep her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately

  • Serve as the primary contact of internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the CEO, including those of a highly confidential or critical nature. Prioritize and determine appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect CEO's style and organization policy.

  • Plan and coordinate logistics for board meetings

  • Manage travel and transportation bookings, along with expense reports

  • Create and edit presentations and documents

  • Support C-Suite and perform other tasks as needed

What You'll Need:

  • 10+ years as an executive assistant, administrative assistant or similar work experience

  • Experience supporting C-Suite executives

  • Experience coordinating board meetings or high-level meeting logistics

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and consistent attention to detail

  • Ability to take and give feedback and consistently work to achieve better results

  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and diplomacy to build and maintain relationships

  • A flexible and positive attitude and the ability to anticipate future needs

  • Demonstrated experience managing and organizing confidential information

  • Ability to be plugged into the culture of the organization, understanding its larger goals and its needs

  • Willingness to work in the office
