NATIONAL MEDAL OF HONOR MUSEUM
The National Medal of Honor Museum in Arlington, Texas will serve as the premier national institution dedicated to the stories, impact, and legacy of the service members who went on to become Medal of Honor recipients. Neither a war memorial nor a military museum, the National Medal of Honor Museum is a humbling endeavor that will take visitors on a narrative journey through the life stories of ordinary people who made extraordinary choices above and beyond the call of duty. The museum footprint encompasses over 100,000 square feet, cornering five acres of waterfront in Arlington, Texas. Over 31,000 square feet of Exhibition Galleries as well as dedicated spaces for meetings, symposiums, memorials, and ceremonies.

THE ROLE
The purpose of the Catering & Events Manager is to oversee the day-to-day banquets/catering operations at the National Medal of Honor Museum. This highly motivated professional will manage the back of house and front of house operations for the event spaces within the museum while working closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef for overall preparedness for special events. This role will report directly to the Director of Events & Group Sales.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversee all aspects of a banquet or event, including set up, presentation, serving, and cleanup while focusing on quality presentation and customer service
Work with sales clients after contract is signed and deposit is collected to make final menu and event selections including F&B upselling and additional event add-ons
Serve as primary point of contact for catering and event vendors to ensure timely ordering, and delivery for all equipment, rental items, linen, and specialty items contracted for each event
Responsible for hiring and training all banquet Event Staff including being the primary point of contact for all Special Events third party staffing.
Responsible for scheduling and overtime monitoring for the banquet event staff according to the special events schedule
Manage and input weekly payrolls for all hourly staff
Direct back of house and front of house operations for all catered special events. Duties to include staff assignments, creating service plans in conjunction with the culinary and stewarding departments
Maintain all on-site equipment, supplies, and linens for event functions
Responsible to order and maintain banquet event inventory as approved by Director of Events & Group Sales
Provide on-going service training and coaching to ensure and maintain high levels of service
Conduct quarterly and annual special events service training
Train and identify key staff to serve as Banquet Captains
Maintain current temporary agency data base approved by HR department
Monitor staff certification and create benchmarks for TABC and Food Safety training
Attend pre and post event meetings
Conduct monthly safety review sessions banquet event staff
Must be able to work special events as assigned
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Five (5) years of experience in catering or banquets hospitality management in a large volume event venue
Skilled at fine dining service and full-service etiquette
Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
Must be able to work non-traditional shifts to include extended hours and flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, days, nights, and holidays
Current TABC and Food Handlers Certifications
High School Diploma or GED
Excellent customer service
Strong interpersonal skills; can effectively communicate and relate to all levels within and outside the organization; creates and builds positive and productive relationships
Responds quickly and effectively to changing trends and circumstances; embraces change and welcomes fresh perspectives; learns from past mistakes and adjusts accordingly
Can manage people and resources to get projects completed; has a strong ability to multi-task and keep order
Ability to work independently and/or in a team environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work well in high pressure situations and remain flexible during last minute changes and revisions
Ability to stand, sit, use of hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms
Ability to lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
