Your day at NTT DATA

The Senior Employee Relations Partner reports to the Director, HR Business Partnership. This role will oversee and conduct investigations, managing employee issue resolution, as well as managing employee relations programs and policies. This position will set the strategy for employee relations and drive support for the HRBP team in handling workplace concerns and actions plans and will provide intervention as necessary. This role has full ownership of employee relations and will demonstrate responsibility for the development and administration of the employee relations program, and employee advocacy. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the relationship between an organization and its employees. This position interfaces with all employees, including management, Legal, HRBPs and external stakeholders, to maintain positive employee relations and resolve workplace issues between employees and management.

What you'll be doing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drives strategy and oversees the management of employee relations processes and procedures to enable effective management, conflict resolution, and problem solving.

  • Leverages advanced knowledge of ER best practices, including applicable local laws and fair and equitable employment practices to lead and manage ER-related projects and programs (e.g., investigations, change management, performance improvement process, workplace accommodations required ER training, etc.).

  • Conducting, overseeing, managing and/or assisting with employee relation issues to manage employee concerns and grievances and to identify and implement appropriate employee action and accountability practices.

  • Manages and leverages data and information from analytic tools, surveys, observations, and supervisors to make data-based decisions on the direction of ER-related projects and topics (e.g., employee morale, employee engagement, work/life balance, organizational culture, employee turnover, workplace incidences, etc.)

  • Offer counseling services to employees, addressing their concerns and promoting a positive work environment.

  • Act as a primary point of contact for addressing employee relations issues including complaints, grievances, and disputes; developing and implementing ER policies; providing advice to managers on how to handle employee issues.

  • Identify and lead a fair and inclusive process appropriate for employee concerns or grievances including overseeing employee fact-finding and ensuring adherence to employee relations policies and practices.

  • Provide strategic support, thought leadership/partnership, and coaching to all levels of the regional business unit.

  • Stay attuned to organizational and operational changes across the company to identify potential employee relations risks and develop plans to address proactively.

  • Provide strategic guidance to leaders and HRBPs on sensitive employee relations matters including performance management, misconduct, interpersonal conflicts, leaves, and accommodations.

  • Provide guidance and coaching to managers of all levels to address employee behavior and performance.

  • Oversee and lead the use of effective documentation techniques and maintaining accurate, confidential records regarding all ER matters and fact-finding documentation.

  • Interpret and apply understanding of Personnel policies and practices, employment law, and other regulations to provide guidance or clarification for ER matters.

  • Maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality when managing ER issues and investigating reported ER cases.

  • Conduct Exit interview, summarize findings and shares trends and concerns with Senior Management.

  • Serves as liaison for employees and managers responding to questions and inquiries related to employment regulations and policies.

  • Act as an advocate for equitable and fair treatment - ensure our practices continue to align to our company’s core values.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Possess knowledge of employment law and regulations as well as applicable policies and federal and state laws.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, active listening, strong emotional intelligence, teamwork skills and ability to build trust, rapport, and influence across all levels of the company.

  • Strong organizational skills; attention to detail, problem-solving abilities. Ability to communicate complex policy and/or difficult emotionally charged topics effectively.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and advising on a wide range of sensitive and complex employee relations issues, including performance management, interpersonal manager/employee conflicts or complaints, leaves/accommodations, and behavioral/ conduct issues.

  • Effective conflict resolution and negotiation knowledge.

  • Demonstrated problem solving is essential to identify and resolve issues and ethics; empathy and confidentiality are needed to maintain trust.

  • Ability to mediate disputes; conduct investigations; ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.

  • Five (5) minimum years of work experience in these areas.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience.

  • A minimum of 5 years of Employee Relations experience gained in either an HRBP role or Employee Relations advisory role or equivalent experience as an employment attorney practicing employment law.

  • Experience conducting investigations and advising on a wide range of sensitive and complex employee relations issues, including performance management, interpersonal manager/employee conflicts or complaints, leaves/accommodations, and behavioral/ conduct issues.

  • Strong understanding of employment law, compliance, and ER best practice

  • Prefer SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.

  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.

  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Remote Office.

  • Extensive daily usage of workstation or computer or laptop.

  • Travel required 10%, occasionally on short notice.

  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.

  • Perform work during US business to support a 365/24/7-hour organization across several time zones.

  • Must participate in some capacity in the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program—use smart mobile device with cellular connectivity capable of downloading active applications.

This is a remote position that requires reliable internet connection and electricity. A monthly stipend is provided to cover expenses associated with working remotely and use of a personal mobile device, if applicable.

NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Base salary for this position is $ 107,400 - $ 155,700.

All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
