The opportunity

We are looking for a seasoned legal Specialist to be part of a team of lawyers and legal professionals responsible for handling a challenging docket of consumer claims and supporting the global consumer dispute resolution program. Consumer Claims include but are not limited to claims filed at consumer organizations, consumer protection agencies, low-risk litigation matters, attorney letters, and escalated consumer inquiries. The ideal candidate has a “hands-on” attitude, demonstrates strong judgment, and believes that disputes are opportunities to learn and grow. Though part of the Legal Team, being an attorney is not a requirement for this role. This position is based in Amsterdam.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle all phases of consumer claims, including management of service, validation of documents, indexing of information, investigation of claims, information gathering, and drafting responses.

  • While reviewing the claims, proactively utilize customer service tools and other internal resources necessary to investigate them.

  • Create, maintain, and update internal documentation, including policies, playbooks, summaries of legal research, etc.

  • Organize, log, and maintain accurate data regarding the volume and types of consumer claims for reporting purposes, and to drive product and customer experience improvements.

  • Partner with cross-functional internal stakeholders such as customer service, public policy, marketing, and product counsels to enhance strategy and provide insights to the business.

  • Handle various types of legally sensitive matters (i.e., bankruptcy notices, guardianship requests, etc)

  • Collaborate in the implementation and maintenance of legal compliance programs (i.e., Dawn Raid)

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in legal operations in a law firm and/or legal in-house team.

  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is desirable.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (succinct and clear), including an ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively to different audiences.

  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and reliably with little guidance.

  • Analytical and investigative skills, with attention to detail and the ability to think strategically, but also to use good judgment to build scalable processes and escalate matters that require urgent attention.

  • Flexibility and willingness to provide administrative support on a broad range of legal matters.

  • Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once.

  • Program Management experience supporting regulatory and compliance initiatives.

  • Solution-driven mindset and the ability to think practically, looking for innovative solutions that can scale.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally

  • Experience with Consumer Claims or Legal Operations (nice to have).
