Oracle Senior Manager, Software Development - Health Data Intelligence in Albany, New York

Job Description

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of high-performing engineers to create state-of-the-art, at-scale software and platforms. You will drive the architectural evolution of this platform, spearheading efforts to achieve dramatic improvements in data processing latencies, develop scalable patient health records for entire national populations, and build a robust, massive-scale health datasets that powers intelligent health services.

You will take ownership of advancing the highest levels of availability, disaster recovery, and resilience for mission-critical healthcare applications. In collaboration with Oracle Cloud engineering teams, you will lead the early adoption and implementation of cutting-edge OCI Big Data and data warehouse services and products. The global nature of the Health Data platform means you’ll also oversee engineering efforts to address complex data laws, regulations, formats, and content across multiple regions.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, your focus will be on fostering a culture of innovation and excellence, guiding your team to build scalable, low-latency systems that can handle massive volumes of data. You will provide technical leadership, influence architectural decisions, and mentor your engineers to push the boundaries of what's possible. By collaborating closely with product and business teams, you will align engineering efforts with strategic objectives, ensuring the delivery of groundbreaking solutions that have a transformative impact on the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

As a Sr. Manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture. More specifically, you will:

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.

  • Drive the design and development of state-of-the-art, scalable cloud-based data platforms and software that handle massive volumes of health data with low latency.

  • Oversee architectural decisions to ensure the platform can scale to support national populations, while meeting mission-critical requirements for availability, disaster recovery, and security.

  • Collaborate with Oracle Cloud engineering teams to integrate cutting-edge OCI Big Data, data lake, and data warehouse services into the platform.

  • Lead efforts to ensure compliance with global data laws, regulations, and industry standards across varying data formats and content.

  • Partner with product management and business stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with strategic goals and deliver high-impact software solutions.

  • Ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software products while managing engineering resources, timelines, and risks.

  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive team environment, supporting career development and skill growth for engineers.

  • Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and keep the platform at the forefront of healthcare data solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a senior engineering management role, leading high-performance teams.

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in distributed systems, cloud services, and large-scale software platform development.

  • Proven experience in building and managing large-scale, data-intensive systems and platforms, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.

  • Extensive knowledge of Big Data technologies, including Hadoop, HBase, Spark, and similar parallel computing frameworks for large-scale data processing and analytics.

  • Strong expertise in distributed systems architecture and design, including fault tolerance, consistency models, and data replication strategies.

  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies and infrastructure (e.g., compute, virtual networking, and storage) in a public cloud environment.

  • BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Exceptional leadership, people management, and mentoring skills, with a track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.

  • Solid understanding of performance benchmarking, optimization tools, and best practices for high-performance systems.

  • Excellent business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • Experience in managing complex projects and delivering high-impact software products in an agile, fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to drive innovation while maintaining focus on technical excellence, operational efficiency, and meeting business objectives.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $107,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
