Curia Senior Corporate Accountant in Albany, New York

Senior Corporate Accountant - Albany, NY or Remote

The Senior Corporate Accountant will report directly to the Director of Corporate Accounting & Reporting and will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, cross-functional and international environment with an experienced finance team and drive accounting process standardization and optimization. The role supports the month-end close, including managing the accounting for accrued expenses and T&E expenses, the search for unrecorded liabilities, and independently preparing and reviewing account reconciliations related to supplier prepayments, accrued GRNI, trade accounts payable and other items. There are also responsibilities related to both the external and internal audits. Additionally, the successful candidate will oversee certain day-to-day tasks related to accounts payable transactions, processing wires and payments, managing the Curia’s expense reimbursement processes, and supporting and monitoring Curia’s various international sites and Global Shared Services center.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the monthly close activities (e.g. journal entries, search for unrecorded liabilities, audit, legal, and PTO accruals, etc.)

• Prepare and/or review monthly account reconciliations related to accounts payable, GRNI, accrued expenses, and supplier prepayments

• Oversee weekly payment runs, miscellaneous wires and other payments

• Manage the Company’s US escheatment accounting and filing process and activities

• Manage sales tax audits and payments for various sites

• Assist with other general ledger projects and activities as needed

• Interact with internal and external auditors and assist with related deliverables

• Ensure AP SOPs are consistently updated and refreshed

• Maintain quality monitoring activities and standards related to GSS’ Accounts Payable department which may include utilization of KPIs, training/retraining and other activities

• Perform monitoring activities proactively

• Address urgent issues related to accounts payable that occur after GSS closes for the day or resolve issues that cannot be addressed independently by GSS

• Oversee complete and accurate 1099 reporting

• Process wires and ACH payments on the bank’s website and investigate inquiries and exceptions

• Perform ad-hoc analysis as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. in Accounting with 5+ years’ overall experience

Other Skills

• Ability to perform general ledger account reconciliations independently

• Working knowledge of accounting for accrued expenses

• Knowledge of best practices around accounts payable and internal controls

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and ERPs

• Eagerness to drive positive change, including implementing automation into existing manual processes

• Flexibility to work longer hours during month-end close and other times as required

• Highly motivated, self-driven personality with critical thinking skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and cross-geography with diverse groups

• Excellent attentiveness to detail

• Ability to manage ambiguity, multi-task and prioritize workload

Preferred

• Experience using Oracle, SAP, AP Express, Workiva and Blackline

• Experience with SOX

Pay Range: $67,000-$83,630/year
